Mount Moriah! We saw them last night, and once the vocal mix was fixed, they were transcendent. Jenks Miller's guitar lines unspooled underneath Heather McEntire's pain-laced vocals, and the whole affair was stunning. On their website, they are self-described as "secular gospel", and that's a shockingly apt description. There's something holy happening here, but at the center, it's a human thing. Alt-country/Americana is rarely done with this level of care and emotion. If you can see these guys on their tour with Craig Finn, I highly recommend it.
They have all their output streaming on their bandcamp.
